This project involved us taking a standard BMW 1800 body shell and media blasting the body clean ready for repairs, seam welding and body strengthening for competition use.
A weld in Custom Cages roll cage was fitted and we then set about shell strengthening and panel replacement as necessary fabricating any panels that were no longer available.
Many panels were replaced or repaired including rear arches, floors, sills,A posts, inner wing sections.front wings and front panel. We made any modifications for competition use including wheel arch rolling and sill jacking points etc.
The four doors were acid dipped clean, fibreglass bonnet and boot lid replaced the heavier steel ones.
Refinishing of the body shell began with a coat of anti corrosion etch primer followed by a 2K Surfacer. The body shell was then seam sealed and anti-stone chip coating was applied to the underside, 2K sealer was then applied and the complete body shell was sprayed in 2K direct gloss BMW Alpine White.
The finished body shell was then returned and refitted up by the customer ready for Classic Car rallying..
